Mary Epworth
Mary Epworth is an engaging new artist who makes music influenced by traditional English song, 60s west coast Psychedelia, and Greek Progressive Rock, tying these things together with a knack for writing effortlessly classic sounding songs, and a love of winding harmonies. Inspired by Forteana, wild beasts both real and unreal, and the work of visionary artists, Mary uses familiar folk instrumentation in an unfamiliar way. Electric Autoharp, Banjo, Synths and many layered vocals combine in an attempt to capture the indescribable.
Project Update:
Escalator Music has enabled Mary to write and record an album of new material, ‘Dream Life’. The album was released on Hand Of Glory Records in March 2012. Singles ‘Black Doe’ and ‘Long Gone’ were playlisted on BBC6 Music, the former was also John Kennedy’s (XFM) “X-Posure Big One” and Shaun Keaveny’s (6music) “Track of the week”. After a busy summer playing festivals across the UK, including Bestival and Hop Farm, Mary continues to tour in support of the release and has participated in many radio interviews and live sessions to promote the upcoming album release.
