What are we looking for?
The acts / performers have to be residing in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire or Hertfordshire to be eligible (proof of residence may be requested).
When selecting Escalator Music artists we are interested in work that:
- Has impact
Prioritises substance over style
Is original and not obviously derivative
Has scope for artistic development
Pushes boundaries
Is experimental
Is not obviously commercially driven
Is contemporary
Has a level of creativity and inventiveness
Is interesting
Displays enthusiasm
Shows dedication
So what’s the next step?
If you are interested in applying to become part of Escalator Music, all you have to do is send us 3 or 4 tracks that are representative of your work (via CD or MP3) and a paragraph outlining how you think Escalator Music can support you, for example, you may be looking for help with studio time, touring or for a music video.
If your music meets the criteria listed, the Escalator Music steering group made up of music industry professionals will listen to it and decide whether you go to the next stage. If successful you will complete a detailed review of your work, situation and aspirations with a member of the steering group.
If you are subsequently accepted as part of Escalator Music we will work with you to develop a bespoke careers development programme based on your specific needs. This programme may include support to apply for funding from the Arts Council’s Grants for the arts lottery funding programme.
Please note, applications will only be accepted from artists themselves and not agents or managers.
